Chandrayaan-3 Live Streaming: Chandrayaan-3’s Soft Landing on the Moon to be Broadcast Live

-ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 Mission Marks a Milestone in Space Exploration

In a momentous event poised to make history, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is set to achieve a ‘soft landing’ on the Moon’s surface today with its Chandrayaan-3 mission. The world eagerly awaits this landmark achievement, and many are wondering how, when, and where they can witness the live broadcast of this historic event. Let’s delve into the details.

ISRO’s Vision

ISRO has expressed that this accomplishment is poised to become a pivotal milestone in Indian science, engineering, technology, and industry. It symbolizes India’s remarkable progress in space exploration. ISRO confirms that the mission is proceeding according to schedule, with meticulous checks and enthusiastic monitoring from the dedicated team.

When Will the Landing Occur?

Chandrayaan-3 is scheduled for its ‘soft landing’ on August 23rd, marking a significant day for the entire nation. The eyes of hope and anticipation are set on witnessing this momentous event. ISRO has officially announced that the landing is slated for 6:04 PM.

Breaking Down the Landing Sequence

The landing module’s journey towards the Moon’s surface will unfold in several stages:

First Stage: The vehicle will reduce its distance from 30 km to 7.5 km above the lunar surface.

Second Phase: The descent continues, bringing the vehicle closer to the surface at 6.8 km. The vehicle’s velocity will decrease to 350 meters per second, about four and a half times less than its initial speed.

Third Phase: The vehicle’s altitude will decrease to a mere 800 meters from the lunar surface. Two thruster engines will be engaged, further reducing the velocity close to zero.

Fourth Stage: The vehicle will descend to within 150 meters of the lunar surface, marking the vertical descent phase.

Step 5: During this stage, live data from onboard sensors and cameras will be cross-referenced with pre-stored reference data, including 3,900 photographs of Chandrayaan 3’s landing site. Based on this comparison, the correctness of the landing will be determined. If deemed unfavorable, slight adjustments will be made to ensure a safe landing. The vehicle will approach to within 60 meters of the lunar surface.

Sixth Stage: This final phase will see the lander making a direct touchdown on the lunar surface.

The Role of the Rover and Lander

The rover Pragyan is securely housed within the Vikram lander. Once Vikram successfully lands, the rover will be deployed onto the lunar surface. Pragyan is equipped with two vital instruments: the Alpha Particle Excitation Spectrometer (APES) and Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIPSE). These instruments will measure surface elements, minerals, and materials, providing valuable insights.

The Vikram lander itself carries four significant instruments, including a retroreflector for Earth-Moon ranging, a seismograph for geological studies, Rambha to measure atmospheric plasma density, and the Chandra Surface Thermophysical Experiment to gauge thermal conductivity.

Live Broadcast Details

For those eager to witness this historic ‘soft landing,’ the live broadcast is set to commence on August 23, 2023, at 5:20 PM IST.

Where to Watch Live

The ‘soft landing’ will be broadcast live on ISRO’s official website, as well as on ISRO’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. Additionally, viewers can tune in to DD National TV channel and various other platforms for a front-row seat to this groundbreaking event.

As Chandrayaan-3 prepares to make its mark on the lunar surface, the world holds its breath, eager to witness this remarkable feat in space exploration. Stay tuned as we embark on this extraordinary journey together, reaching new heights in our understanding of the cosmos.
